About Cord Blood
During pregnancy, the umbilical cord functions as a lifeline between mother and child. Cord blood is the blood that remains in the umbilical cord and placenta following birth. After the baby is born, the cord blood can be collected as it contains valuable stem cells which could be used to treat certain medical conditions. Previously, it is routinely discarded as clinical waste.
What is Cord Lining?
The umbilical cord contains cord blood, Wharton’s jelly, two umbilical arteries and an umbilical vein. These components are protected by a sheet-like membrane known as the cord lining. While Wharton’s jelly contains one type of stem cells – Mesenchymal Stem Cells (MSC), the umbilical cord lining contains at least two types of stem cells – Mesenchymal Stem Cells (MSC) and Epithelial Stem Cells (EpSC).
StemFinityCord has been established with the purpose of enhancing human health and has been active in Human Umbilical Cord Mesenchymal Stem Cells Therapy in Malaysia.
